Scott & White EMS, Inc. is based in Temple Texas, a not-for-profit (501(c) (3) corporation licensed by the State of Texas.  Scott & White EMS is a joint venture between Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Community EMS.

Our ambulances are fully equipped and capable of handling any and all types of medical transportation request.  

Personnel Requirements 

All Scott & White EMS ambulance personnel are licensed through the State of Texas in their respective level of training.  Our employees are continually updated on all protocol, clinical and education changes in our industry.  Our paramedic personnel are required to attend an on site 80 hour Critical Care Paramedic course with emphasis on advanced cardiac care, pharmacology and advanced airway management with ventilator training.

Scott & White EMS began as the Department of Medical Transportation in 1988. Since it’s beginning SWEMS has gone through many changes. With each change a new and exciting venture began.

In 1988, the department specialized in inter-hospital transports of patients, then in 1990 the department began to assist Temple Fire Department with emergency calls within the confines of the City of Temple.

In 1995, Scott & White EMS became the EMS provider for the City of Temple and east Bell County. Our latest change came just this year with the creation of Scott & White EMS, Inc.

On June 1, 2008 Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Community EMS of Southfield, Michigan developed a Joint Venture relationship and created Scott & White EMS, Inc.

Today, Scott & White EMS, Inc. specializes in the timely and efficient transport of emergent and non-emergent patients. SWEMS has a fleet of 23 ambulances all certified with the State of Texas as MICU capable ambulances. Each ambulance is supplied with specialized equipment and critical care medication to care for any acuity patient. Each paramedic receives additional training provided by many of Scott & White Physicians in specialized areas of study, this allows for each paramedic to be able to provide a higher level of care for patients.

SWEMS also deploys 3 wheelchair vans to assist facilities with the movement of patient to and from appointments. The newest addition to the SWEMS fleet is the Rehab Bus. The “Bus” is used throughout Bell County to service fire personnel with rehab during an extended fire, to assist with displaced family members during a house fire or catastrophic event until other means are acquired and can be utilize during Mass Causality Incidents as a Mobile Command Center.

With a well-developed fleet of vehicles and personnel SWEMS is able to provide care to patients in the emergent need or simply the non-emergent need.
